While I’ve designed a few in my day, it’s standard protocol around the studio to swat drop down menus like the annoying, dysfunctional bugs they are. But am I being too critical and one sided? Matt Cronin thinks so:

From a design standpoint, however, drop-down menus are an excellent feature because they help clean up a busy layout. If structured correctly, drop-down menus can be a great navigation tool, while still being a usable and attractive design feature.

After reading the article, I may think so too.
