Live Like Sam
Ron Jackenthal came to Spigot with the need to launch his new nonprofit Live Like Sam. He had a tight deadline to meet, and was just finalizing up his branding. We jumped right in to content strategy and design of the site, and launched livelikesam.org in a short timeframe.
Live Like Sam is positively influencing sports culture and young athletes, and creating programs and scholarships based on character.
Live Like Sam Project Overview
Sam Jackenthal was an internationally-ranked freestyle skier and competitive inline rollerblader. We lost Sam all too soon at the age of 15 in a tragic skiing accident. His father, Ron Jackenthal, created Live Like Sam to honor Sam's legacy and inspire young athletes to live as Sam did, with positivity, kindness and gratitude at the fore-front of all they do.
To get the project rolling, Spigot sat down with Ron to determine what factors would make the launch of the livelikesam.org a success. We dove into his ideas for programming, messaging, partnerships and starting gathering image and video assets. We also worked with Ron and his logo designer to finalize various branding elements.
We wireframed out the site on a page-by-page based, starting writing copy and finalized up the design. Live Like Sam came together nicely and was launched in about one month's timeframe.
Sam had good video footage, and we wanted to use it to tell his story. Spigot worked with a videographer to create a short looping video as the marquee on the home page, and to cut up several other clips and created a gallery. We wanted the site to be very visual, and had a lot of image assets, so utilized imagery throughout.
Sam's handprint was brought in as a visual branding element, in "Sam gold", and "Sam blue" predominant throughout the site. Rich page layouts were created for most pages, keeping the copy minimal while still telling the Live Like Sam story.
