Hōmdoor
Hōmdoor clay ovens combine the art of a 5,000-year-old cooking practice with modern technology and the highest-quality materials, making cooking fun, healthy and adventurous - for Indian cuisine and beyond.
Hōmdoor came to Spigot wanting to put some romance back into its tandoori grills and better tell its brand story, as Hōmdoor's tandoors offer a unique cooking experience that foodies and chefs may not know about. Check it out.
Hōmdoor Project Overview
Hōmdoor sells professional-quality tandoor ovens for commercial and residential use. It also offers a custom install kit, with which you can design your own outdoor or indoor kitchen. The company's most popular product is the Hōmdoor Stainless Steel Outdoor Tandoor Oven, with charcoal, propane or natural gas burner options. Hōmdoor tandoors have a modern design and have been handcrafted in the USA since 1976.
We set out to create a new and improved user experience and a site that was very visually appealing. We worked with the existing brand images, many of which were not high resolution. However, we found ways in the design to highlight the best of the best and tell the story in a concise way. We transitioned the site from a Magento ecommerce store to WooCommerce and imported all the existing order history.
Spigot went through our entire process - brand and competitor research, SEO strategy, wireframing, custom design, copywriting, custom development, data entry, SEO setup, testing and launch. Maintenance and hosting are handled by our sister company, Cinch Web Services.

Project Highlights
Spigot drove the content strategy, recreating the UX / UI and wrote the copy for all the primary pages and product categories. We told the company's story and explained why Hōmdoor tandoors stand out. We also hired local artist Dana Klien to create line drawings of Hōmdoor's custom tandoor ovens to give customers an idea of how the product can be used since actual custom install images did not exist.
We created a blog to post recipes and cooking tips that were on the previous site, but not in an SEO-friendly manner. The blog will be used to add fresh content, boost organic traffic and increase SERP (Search Engine Results Pages).
For the site's online store, custom product category pages were created for visual appeal and SEO benefits. A custom ecommerce checkout was designed for an improved user experience, with shipping costs calculated prior to checkout.
