    Hi Bryan
    Great to read your article and thanks for posting your research. I’ve just extended my mobileme account for another year as well as upgrading to family pack to get my girlfriend up and running so we can sync calendars. I quite agree with all your points. Bells & whistles are Apple’s trademark and I’ve been easily sold on them only to find that in some cases the functionality is basic (and can be found elsewhere for free-as you have pointed out) limited (so that you need to use another programme to do more – iWeb for example) or that in the end I don’t really use it (eg Gallery).

    I’d add Delicious.com to your options for (social) bookmarking – wonderfully explained here by CommonCraft [http://www.commoncraft.com/bookmarking-plain-english]

    So I guess the time you took to undo MobileMe and switch the consolidated services it provides over to all those providers was only worth ~$72:
